A graceful professional kathak danseuse who possesses a sense of rhythm, a feeling for music, and a creative ability to express herself through movement. Studied Kathak for several years under the strict discipline and guidance of various distinguished teachers and gurus following the “guru shishya parampara” including the Internationally renowned Kathak guru Padmabibhushan Pandit (Pt.) Birju Maharaj. Now she is researching, performing, educating, and working on more variations and transformations of Kathak. Altogether she has traveled a great distance of time for nearly 30 years enriching the art form for herself and the society at large. Paramita is one of the most prominent Kathak artists of present generation in India and abroad. She has been living in Los Angeles, USA, and in India prior to that and her performances show a special flavor of Lucknow Gharana style. She has taught at various Kathak organizations for several years In India and has plan now to establish her own academy in Los Angeles, CA.
She is a recipient of several academic degrees including “Sangeet Prabhakar” degree, “Senior Diploma” and “Junior Diploma” in the field of Kathak dance, awarded by the renowned Prayag Sangeet Samiti, India. Her endeavor has been to pass on the expertise to the students, learners, and supporters of Kathak, which she thinks is the best tribute to her art work. She has been regularly showcasing her talent and achieved expertise at various platforms, performing various choreographic compositions like “Teen Taal”, “Tarana”, “Hori”, “Thumri”, “Vandana”, “Sufi”, and “Ghazal” etc. designed and performed by her which are routinely appreciated by media. She firmly believes in the fact that when a dream becomes a desire, it ultimately becomes a delight. In her dance performances, the ideas presented always depict some aspiring and thought provoking philosophy.
